Support/Hourly - Position - Grounds Equipment Operator
ROLE AND PURPOSE:
Plan, organize, and maintain all school lawns, athletic fields, playground equipment and exterior facilities as required to meet departmental responsibilities.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Must obtain Texas Class B-CDL license within 90 days of employment.
One year previous grounds maintenance experience, preferred.
Knowledge of basic techniques of minor repairs and grounds maintenance.
Ability to operate equipment associated with grounds maintenance.
Ability to properly operate and maintain a tractor and associated equipment preferred.
Properly handle grounds supplies
Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure of deadlines.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Follow all AISD safety procedures as covered in AISD safety handbook
Abide by all AISD policies and procedures as outlined in AISD auxiliary employee handbook
Assume responsibility for safe operation and care of assigned service vehicle, tools and equipment
Assume responsibility for personal time card
Maintain preventive maintenance program to ensure health and safety of students and staff
Follow applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures
Maintain department schedules
Explain work requirements, methods and procedures
Interaction with other departments
Maintain neat and clean school grounds and exterior facilities
Follow specific duties as required
Maintain daily and special records
Perform other duties as assigned by grounds supervisor
All other duties within the assigned department or other departments to meet overall district needs
Maintain effective and positive public relations with customers and fellow employees
Garden tools; small hand tools; power tools including edger, cord trimmer, blower, tiller; heavy equipment including sod cutter, backhoe, tractor, grader; and power mower; light truck or van.
Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving.
Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) regularly.
Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extremem hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical (herbicides and fertilizer) and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolongd hours; frequent districtwide travel.
